As part of Flint High School’s vision, we will give you the knowledge and guidance needed to make informed decisions about your career and future choices. During your school journey you will have CWRE embedded into subject schemes of learning, enrichment days and extra-curricular activities. At each key stage you will have opportunities to:
Key Stage 3 (Years 7-9)
- Explore different careers and industries and develop your aspirations and employability skills
- Develop the personal skills required to make you more employable and raise attainment in your studies. You will focus on creativity and innovation, problem solving and critical thinking, personal effectiveness, planning and organising your time and work effectively
- Have your career and future pathway journey supported with one to one guidance, embedded as part of your individual learning plan (ILP) where appropriate
Key Stage 4 (Years 10 and 11)
- Further develop and embed employability skills including creativity and innovation, problem solving and critical thinking, personal effectiveness, planning and organising your time and work effectively
- Have a one to one interview with our Careers Advisor and follow up sessions as required
- Gain a better understanding of the employment market and the careers that might be best suited to your own skill set
- Gain experience in writing a CV, personal statement and interview skills
- Investigate post-16 options including our Sixth Form, college or further education, apprenticeships, employment and employment-based training
Key Stage 5 (Years 12 and 13)
- Investigate post-18 options including University or higher education, apprenticeships, employment and employment-based training
- Understand the knowledge and employability skills required for post-18 pathways
- Have access to a Careers Advisor as required
- Receive advice and guidance on your UCAS application and personal statement if you are applying to universities
RESULTS DAYS
Year 12 and 13 AS/A2 Results Day - Thursday 15th August 2024
You will have a one to one conversation with a member of staff to talk through your results and discuss your best options moving forward Post-18.
Year 11 GCSE Results Day - Thursday 22nd August 2024
You will have a one to one conversation with a member of staff to talk through your results and discuss your best options moving forward Post-16.
Careers Wales Advisor
Heather Roberts, our Careers Wales Advisor, will deliver a number of sessions to you throughout the year to raise awareness of Careers and Work Related Education and opportunities post-16 and post-18. Mrs Roberts is also available during our Year 10-13 Parents’ Evenings. If you are in Years 10 or 11, you will have at least one personal appointment with Mrs Roberts and follow up appointments can be arranged as required.
Teaching staff may also refer you to Mrs Roberts for appointments where needed.
